The Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of the European Funds held a hearing of representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism on the progress in the absorption of the European funds in the country

On December 8, at a meeting of the Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of the European Funds a hearing has been held in relation to the progress and the current state under the:
• “Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy” Operational Program 2007 – 2013;
• “Administrative Capacity” Operational Program 2007 – 2013;
• Transition Facility and
• Phare Program.
The information on the “Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy” Operational Program 2007 – 2013 progress has been presented by Mr. Evgeny Angelov – Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism and the state under the other three sources of funding has been outlined before the Committee by Mrs. Boryana Pencheva – Deputy Minister of Finance.
The discussion before the Committee has been joined by the following business representatives: Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov – President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Kamen Kolev – Vice President of the Bulgarian Industrial Association, Mr. Iliya Keleshev – Member of the National Council of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, Mr. Kamen Kolchev – Member of the Managing Board of the Confederation of the Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria and Mr. Krassimir Kiriakov – Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Consultants in European Programs.
The presentation and discussion of the information on the progress under the Programs and Facilities above is a part of the series of hearings before the Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of the European Funds aimed at exerting political control over the activity of the state administration structures engaged in the management of the European funds in the country. The materials and the debates of the meetings will be used in the elaboration of the Interim and Annual Reports of the Committee on the absorption of the EU funds in the Republic of Bulgaria.
