A special webpage on the National Assembly Internet site to ensure maximum publicity and transparency of the procedure for electing members of the Supreme Judicial Council
11/07/2012
All activities and opinions related to the procedure for electing members of the Supreme Judicial Council shall be published on a special thematic webpage on the Internet site of the National Assembly.

The thematic webpage was opened on the initiative of the Legal Affairs Committee. On 11 July 2012 the National Assembly adopted Rules of Procedure for the election of candidates for members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the National Assembly quota, which provide for the establishment of a specialized thematic webpage “Election of members of the Supreme Judicial Council” on the Internet site of the National Assembly. Its goal is to ensure maximum publicity and transparency of the procedure for election of SJC members through partnership with institutions, civil society and all public stakeholders.

To be published on the webpage are the shorthand protocols of the Legal Affairs Committee sittings, the Committee’s resolutions as well as all documents and materials related to the election of SJC members. Information about the candidates shall also be made available on the webpage, including their concepts, career records and other data required by the law, along with views, opinions and public stands of various non-governmental organizations.

A special webpage feature will provide an opportunity to watch video-interviews, and to follow in real time the Legal Affairs Committee sittings scheduled to conduct hearings of the candidates and other public discussions of the topic. The parliamentary sitting for the election of members of the Supreme Judicial Council from the National Assembly quota will also be broadcast in real time on the Internet, on the Bulgarian National Television and the Bulgarian National Radio.

The webpage will enable non-governmental organizations and other public stakeholders to send their opinions and recommendations. It will be maintained in Bulgarian and English and will be updated periodically.
