The Vice-President of the National Assembly Valeri Simeonov received an award from the Bulgarian Republican Self-Government in Hungary for outstanding merit to the Bulgarian community there. The award was awarded on 2 March 2021 by the Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers of Hungary Miklos Sholtes.

A Hungarian delegation, led by Miklos Sholtes, is on a three-day visit to Bulgaria on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria - 3 March. At the beginning of their visit, members of the delegation held a press conference for media representatives.

The “3 March” Award was awarded to Valeri Simeonov for his contribution to deepening the Bulgarian-Hungarian friendship and his commitment to solving important problems for the Bulgarian community in Hungary, Miklos Sholtes, Secretary of State of the Hungarian Council of Ministers, said at the awarding. The Hungarian MP and representative of the Bulgarian minority Simeon Varga expressed gratitude on behalf of the Bulgarians in Hungary for the support and assistance the minority receives from the Bulgarian state - the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers. We are proud to be Bulgarians, cherish the Bulgarian traditions and preserve the Bulgarian language and culture, although we are outside the boundaries of our homeland, he added.

The Vice-President of the National Assembly Valeri Simeonov thanked for the high distinction and emphasized that Bulgarian-Hungarian relations in the last few years have deepened and intensified. He recalled that the decision adopted unanimously by the National Assembly to declare the Day of Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship on October 19 has a contribution to this. It is a precedent for Bulgaria to have a day of friendship with another country, and the fact that this country is Hungary shows how much we care and are ready to work for even more intensive contacts in all areas of mutual interest, Valeri Simeonov added.

Before departing from the country - on March 4, at 9.30 a.m., the members of the delegation will hold talks with the Vice-President of the 44th National Assembly Valeri Simeonov. They will be welcomed in the plenary chamber of the Bulgarian Parliament.
