Dear Presidents of the National Assembly,
Dear Members of Parliament,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with great excitement that I stand before you on this high platform because of the trust you place in me. I am aware of the responsibility and the expectations of all of us – to find the right direction to respond to the challenges of today's complicated reality.
Dear fellow Members of Parliament,
I congratulate each and every one of you on your election to the Forty-Fifth National Assembly! I am convinced that we will work hard for the authority of the Bulgarian Parliament. I hope that the experience and knowledge of the already proven parliamentarians will be supplemented by the energy and the innovative spirit of the newly elected colleagues.
On April 4, more than half of the Bulgarian voters fulfilled their public duty and gave their vote to form the National Assembly today. The expectations of the voters are turned to us and our work for the implementation of the election programs, for clear, predictable and stable legislation, the work not of the whim of the minute, but the fruit of sound reflection and comprehensive consideration, as Todor Ikonomov says. I believe that the rights of the person and their dignity, raised as the supreme principle in the Preamble of the Constitution, will be respected in this National Assembly and we will not forget that it is up to our actions for Bulgaria to be a democratic, legal and social state.
The transparency and accountability should be the guiding principles in the work of the Parliament, as the constitutional norms, related to the parliamentary control, the hearing of the judiciary bodies and of the authorities entirely or partially elected by the National Assembly, should be filled with substance.
Dear colleagues,
Let us make efforts for a dialogue between us, for seeking good solutions, for a high parliamentary culture in order to be worthy representatives of the people. Once again, I congratulate you all.
Thank you!
