Today we are here - on Shipka to lay flowers and pay our respects to all Bulgarian volunteers, to all heroes who sacrificed their lives for freedom, said the President of the National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva after climbing Shipka Peak together with young people from all over the country.

The celebrations of the Monument of Liberty are traditionally held under the patronage of the President of Parliament.

Shipka is a peak that we Bulgarians must climb every year to remember our past and build our future, added Tsveta Karayancheva.

At this peak, we need to rethink our actions, to think about why sometimes we cannot overcome our selfishness, why we cannot unite behind a common goal, the President of Parliament noted. She added that the Bulgarians who lived in those times found an idea around which to unite in the name of the common good. We must be strong and swallow our differences in the name of Bulgaria, the President of the National Assembly further said.
