By 156 votes “in favour”, the National Assembly accepted the resignation of the Council of Ministers with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
The MPs from the Parliamentary Group of GERB-SDS did not participate in the vote. The item was included in the agenda of the National Assembly with 157 votes “in favour”. The decision triggered a debate in plenary whether the resignation of the current Council of Ministers should only be deposited before the newly elected Parliament or whether it should also be voted.
Earlier, MPs from GERB-SDS were sworn in to replace the resigning government ministers. They will serve temporarily in the Parliament, while the 14 ministers in the current government, who have also been elected MPs in the 45th National Assembly, serve in the executive branch.
