Jose Manuel Barroso handed the Report on Bulgaria's Progress to EU Membership to Georgi Pirinski in the presence of representatives of all parliamentary groups

President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso handed the Monitoring Report on the State of Preparedness for EU Membership of Bulgaria to National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski in the presence of representatives of all parliamentary groups.

President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and Member of the European Commission, responsible for Enlargement, Olli Rehn, visited the Bulgarian Parliament on 27 September 2006.

National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski informed his guests about the Declaration on the European Commission's Report, adopted by the Bulgarian Parliament the same day by a large majority. Satisfaction with the conclusions and the MPs' commitment to the fulfillment of the recommendations contained in the report, the document states. In the declaration, the MPs expressed also hope that the parliaments of the EU countries that still have not ratified Bulgaria's EU Accession Treaty will do it in the nearest future.
