Parliament adopted a resolution on the election of Members of the European Parliament

At its plenary sitting on 20 December 2006, the National Assembly adopted a resolution on the election of Members of the European Parliament from the Republic of Bulgaria. Eighteen MPs have been chosen for Members of the European Parliament (until the direct elections for Bulgaria's MEPs in mid-May 2007). The principle of the proportional representation of parliamentary groups was applied: six MPs of the Coalition for Bulgaria Parliamentary Group - Atanas Paparizov, Georgi Bliznashki, Evgeni Kirilov, Kristian Vigenin, Mladen Tcherveniakov and Marusya Lyubcheva; four MPs of the National Movement Simeon II Parliamentary Group - Lidia Shouleva, Christina Christova, Stanimir Ilchev and Antonyia Parvanova; three of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Parliamentary Group - Filiz Hyusmenova, Nedzhmi Ali and Tchetin Kazak; two of the United Democratic Forces Parliamentary Group - Philip Dimitrov and Martin Dimitrov; one of the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria Parliamentary Group - Konstantin Dimitrov; one of the Bulgarian Popular Union Parliamentary Group - Stefan Sofianski; and one of the Ataka Parliamentary Group - Dimitar Stoyanov.
Parliament also passed:
• RATIFICATION ACT OF THE CONVENTION BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA AND THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBLE TAXATION AND THE PREVENTION OF FISCAL EVASION WITH RESPECT TO TAXES ON INCOME AND ON CAPITAL.
• AMENDING ACT TO THE CULTURE PROTECTION AND DEVELOPMENT ACT.
• AMENDING ACT TO THE PHARMACEUTICALS AND PHARMACIES SERVING HUMAN MEDICINE ACT.
• URBAN PLANNING AND BUILDING UP OF SOFIA MUNICIPALITY ACT.
