Conferring with the President of the National Assembly Gerdjikov, H.E. Farag A. Gibril, Libya’s Ambassador, voiced hope that the trial against the six detained Bulgarian medics will take place in March and the final judgement will be positive for them.
The Libyan Ambassador stated that the Libyan legal authorities would take a just decision. Mr. Gerdjikov called for the earliest possible conclusion of the trial.
Ambassador Gibril assured that the Libyan authorities are doing their best on this issue.
According to Ambassador Gibril, finding a peaceful settlement of the Iraqi crisis is the best solution to avoid a possible catastrophe in this region.
The President of the National Assembly underlined that Bulgaria is actively involved in the efforts for peaceful settlement of the Iraqi crisis.
The unconditional co-operation by Saddam Hussein is, therefore, necessary to the effective performance of the international inspectors, he added.
The two sides discussed bilateral trade and economic relations.
