At its plenary sitting on 16 March 2007, the National Assembly elected the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gergana Grancharova as Minister of European Affairs. The vote was 157 in favour, 54 against and one abstention.

Gergana Grancharova took the oath as Minister of European Affairs.

With a resolution of 21 December 2006 on personnel changes in the Council of Ministers, the National Assembly relieved Meglena Kuneva from her responsibilities as Minister of European Affairs in connection with her election as European Commission member as of January 1, 2007.
