Sweden gives strong political support for Bulgaria’s EU membership, the Swedish Ambassador H.E. Mr. Sten Ask said during his meeting with the leadership of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship between Bulgaria and Sweden.
There is no connection between the stand of the Bulgarian government on Iraq and EU accession process according to the Swedish government, he added.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship between Bulgaria and Sweden, Ms. Irina Bokova, thanked for the Swedish support and appraised it as an example for European approach to the issue. “The EU stand on Iraq crisis would be stronger if it was common one and we hope such a stand will be drafted soon,” Ms. Bokova added.

Concrete measures for economic cooperation were considered during the meeting. Priority cooperation areas for Sweden are IT, biotechnology, environmental technologies, energetics and tourism, the Swedish Ambassador stated.
At parliamentary level, Sweden could assist Bulgaria in the field of European integration, social policy, local self-government and regional policy, the Bulgarian MPs said.
