25/07/2007
National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski sent letters to the five Bulgarian nurses and the Palestinian doctor who returned to Bulgaria yesterday after spending over eight years in a Libyan prison facing the death penalty on charges of deliberately infecting hundreds of Libyan children with the HIV virus.
In the letter Pirinski voices his, as well as all Bulgarian MPs' satisfaction with the return of the medics to Bulgaria and with the restoration of their status of free Bulgarian citizens.
Pirinski informed them about his phone conversation with European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering who had sent his sincere greetings for the medics' release expressing readiness to welcome them at the European Parliament.
National Assembly Chairman wrote about the Parliament's intention to assist the organising of meetings of the freed medics with parliamentarians and public figures from Bulgaria and other countries who had actively worked for the triumph of truth and the medics' release.
