The development of Bulgarian-Cuban relations and the role of the two parliaments in this process were discussed at the meeting between the Parliamentary Group for Friendship between Bulgaria and Cuba and Mr. Julio Germendia – Member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, responsible for the countries from Eastern Europe. The two sides expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in the recent years in terms of politics, economy and culture.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship between Bulgaria and Cuba, Mr. Lyuben Kornezov, acquainted the guest with Bulgarian foreign political priorities, the National Assembly’s activity and especially with the work of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship between Bulgaria and Cuba.

“Following the visit of Bulgarian MPs to Havana in February, Bulgaria expects a visit of a Cuban parliamentary delegation, which will improve the political dialogue,” Mr. Kornezov said. The two sides shared common position that appointing ambassadors in Sofia and Havana will favour this process.

Mr. Germendia informed the MPs about the recent parliamentary elections in Cuba and made a commitment for the forthcoming formation of a Parliamentary Group for Friendship with Bulgaria.
