Integration into EU and NATO is a stage-by-stage process related to implementation of reforms and increasingly involvement of civil society in it, Georgi Pirinski said at Budapest Western Balkans Conference
28/09/2007
On 28 September 2007, National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski took part in the third conference dedicated to the Western Balkan countries. The forum takes place in Budapest, at the National Assembly of the Republic of Hungary, on the subject of "The European and Atlantic integration of the Western Balkan countries".

Participating are the parliament leaders of Hungary, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Vojvodina as an observer.

Bulgarian Parliament Chairman Georgi Pirinski was a guest of honour at the conference and delivered a report.

In his statement he noted that Bulgaria and Romania’s accession to the EU has changed Europe's political map and thus had put into a new geopolitical framework the countries in the Western Balkans. "The integration into EU and NATO is a stage-by-stage process related to fulfilment of commitments, carrying out reforms and delivery of more information to the civil society for the sake of its increasingly involvement in the process," Pirinski pointed out.

The Bulgarian parliamentary delegation's official visit to Hungary continues.

The delegation is headed by National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski and also includes Ms. Maria Anguelieva, Deputy Chair of the European Affairs Committee and MP of PG of National Movement Simeon II; Rositsa Yanakieva, Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Bulgaria-Hungary Friendship Group and MP of PG of Coalition for Bulgaria; Mr. Radoslav Ivanov, MP of PG of Coalition for Bulgaria.
