The President of the National Assembly Prof. Ognian Gerdjikov met the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Cyril Svoboda.

“The Czech Parliament will ratify Bulgaria’s Protocol of Accession to NATO,“ the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Cyril Svoboda stated today at his meeting with the National Assembly President.

In his turn, Prof. Gerdjikov thanked for the Czech Republic’s support for Bulgaria’s invitation to join NATO.

In the course of the talks, Minister Svoboda declared that the Czech Republic is interested in strengthening the bilateral relations and pointed out that Bulgaria could use the Czech Republic’s experience of EU accession negotiations’ process.

“Bulgaria hopes that the Czech Republic will actively participate in the investment and privatisation process in Bulgaria, “ the President of the National Assembly Gerdjikov said.

The two sides noted as well the considerable potential existing in the fields of politics and economy between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic and the fact that bilateral dialogue has been developing on the basis of coincident foreign political priorities.

There is a steady tendency of increase of the trade exchange between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic and a lot of untapped possibilities in tourism, it emerged at the meeting.
