The National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski met on 28 November 2007 with the Prime Minister of Macedonia Nikola Gruevski, who paid a one-day official visit to Bulgaria.
The role of parliaments in the shared aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations, Bulgaria's support for Macedonia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the expansion of trade and economic contacts figured high on the agenda of the session.

The Prime Minister of Macedonia presented his country's priorities. Among them, he singled out the development of the economy, the fight against corruption, accession to the European Union and NATO and the maintenance of good-neighbour relations. “We aspire to create the most favourable climate for investments and to accelerate infrastructure development,” Gruevski said at the meeting. He stressed that the Macedonian side counts on Bulgaria's committed and friendly support for its bid to join the Euro-Atlantic structures.

Georgi Pirinski expressed the conviction that the Macedonian Prime Minister's visit will give a fresh impetus to the advancement of bilateral contacts and stressed that Bulgaria and Macedonia are interested in carrying out successful reforms which lead to economic prosperity and live up to citizens' expectations to the greatest extent. “Concerted efforts are needed in favour of the common long-term prospects, and tendencies impeding creative interaction should not be allowed to reproduce themselves,” the head of the Bulgarian Parliament noted at the meeting.
