National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski receives the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey

On March 28th 2008 Chairman Pirinski met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who is on official visit to Bulgaria.
During the talks both sides confirmed their aim at the development of active good neighborly relations for the benefit of their citizens and to broaden the economic cooperation. The contribution of the two parliaments and its Groups for Friendship to the bilateral relations development was underscored.
The Prime Minister noted that during the last years Bulgaria has achieved remarkable success. He emphasized the need to intensify the trade and economic partnership between the two countries and that both sides were willing the trade exchange to reach10 billion US Dollars in the next 5 years.
National Assembly Pirinski stated that as of January 1st 2007 Bulgaria was a full-fledged member of the European Union and both countries were to meet the challenge to put their relations in synchrony with the ones in the Union. Georgi Pirinski added that the successful and good neighborly relations of the two countries were very important for their participation in the big scale projects foreseen in the region and that our country aims at such type of relations with all its neighbors and to abide by the rules adopted and affirmed by the EU and NATO.
As far as the open issues between the two countries were concerned both sides took the same position that problems should find solutions acceptable to all parties as to eliminate the possibility for the latter to be transformed into a burden for the future generations.
Prime Minister Erdogan confirmed his invitation for Chairman Georgi Pirinski to pay an official visit to the Republic of Turkey at the head of a parliamentarian delegation during the second half of this year.
