National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski met today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov who is on official visit to Bulgaria.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the development of the bilateral relations and their willingness to accelerate the partnerships in the economic and energy areas. The strategic projects for regional infrastructure development in the Black Sea and the Caucus and in South East Europe are an essential factor favoring the recent development between the two countries.
Chairman Pirinski underscored the aim of Bulgaria to affirm itself as a successful member of the European Union and to be in the forefront for stability of the region. He introduced the guest to the results of the recently held in Sofia conference of Speakers of Parliaments of the countries participating in the South East Cooperation Process and the documents adopted – the Memorandum of Understanding on Interparliamentary Cooperation and the Final declaration.

Special accent in the conversation was put to the need to promote the cooperation between the two parliaments through the parliamentary committees and the friendship groups in the two legislative institutions.
