These amendments were adopted on second reading on 18 April 2008 by the parliament on its sitting, April 18, 2008. They foresee a possibility for Bulgarian civil servants to be sent to work in the European Institutions for up to 4 years. During their work outside the country their positions will be kept and they will receive a monthly salary in addition. The salary will amount to half of all the money they are entitled, but not less than the minimum salary for the country. After the term of employment in the EU has expired, or has been terminated ahead of time, the civil servant will be able to recover his previous position.
