Georgi Pirinski Attends the National Homage Marking the 132nd Anniversary of the April Uprising Against Ottoman Domination in the Historic Oborishte Locality

National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski took part in the festivities dedicated to the 132nd anniversary of the April Uprising.
Georgi Pirinski delivered a speech at the grounds of the monument in the historic locality “Oborishte". In his speech, national assembly chairman Pirinski pointed out that thanks to the self-sacrifice of the insurgents Bulgaria has been living as a free country for 130 years but today faces a new challenge - to take a place according to merit in the modern world, in uniting Europe, to uphold its national identity.
He stated that Oborishte is a place where every Bulgarian citizen paying tribute to the memory of his patriotic ancestors has toconsider precisely who deserves his confidence and is to be elected to represent him.
Wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument raised there and a
memorial service for those who died was performed.
Pirinski presented the Oborishte national Award to the Chairman of the National revival towns, Prof. Ivan Lalov, and journalist Velislava Dureva. The award was instituted by the National Association of
revival towns and is conferred for contributions to the preservation and endorsement of national identity.
In the town of Panagyurishte Georgi Pirinski met with the municipal leadership. Later on he attended the folk concert at Oborishte.
