The visit was held on the invitation of the French Republic’s National Assembly speaker Bernard Accoyer. Georgi Pirinski was joined by parliamentary members Georgi Bliznashki (PG Coalition for Bulgaria) and Ilko Dimitrov (PG Bulgarian New Democracy).

The formal meeting between Chairman Pirinski and Bernard Accoyer took place on May 6th 2008.

In Paris the Bulgarian speaker of parliament met with the president of the French Senate Christian Poncelet and with the members of the French – Bulgarian friendship group.

Georgi Pirinski delivered a lecture themed: “Treaty of Lisbon - citizens, parliaments, the Union” in the French Institut for International Relations.

Central focus in the programme was dedicated to Chairman Pirinski’s participation in the French National Cenate’s Conference honoring the 65th Anniversary of the Salvation of Bulgarian jews. It was opened by senator Jean Francois Pishral.

Georgi Pirinski inagurated a commemorative plaque of the bulgarian poet revolutionary Hristo Botev in the Bulgarian Cultural Center in Paris and met with representatives of the Bulgarian Community.
