National assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski took part in the International Conference devoted to the “Interagency Cooperation in the investigation of corruption”. The forum is organized by the Association “Transparency without frontiers” and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bulgaria.
In his welcoming address to the participants, Georgi Pirinski stressed that Bulgaria was standing against the challenge to demonstrate that the slogan “Zero tolerance to corruption” is not simply a nice sentence, declared from time to time, but a device that we were striving to make happen and exercise in life.
He made sure that the assembly, the parliamentary committees and especially the committees on legal affairs and the fight against corruption were the busiest and most ready to interact with other institutions and administrations, dedicated to overcome the problem, that has the potential to overshadow the good image of Bulgaria. He also stressed that this problem should not in any way be underestimated or circumvent. The conference and the measures presiding and following such events come to demonstrate that in Bulgaria corruption is not silently accepted as a fact of life, but on the contrary is considered en evil that has to be contained and fought against relentlessly, as this phenomena is extremely dangerous for the society and the interests of every citizen, stated Georgi Pirinski.
