28/05/2008
28 May 2008

The amendments require two third majority votes of all municipal councilors for decisions to change the status of municipal property from public municipal to private municipal. Currently decisions are taken with simple majority. The amendments stipulate for renting out or transfer of ownership of real or tangible municipal property to be done by public tenders or bidding, except for the derogations provided in the law.

Parliament debated on second reading amendments to the Fodders Act. In future the fodders and their additives will be marketed packed up or in bulk accompanied by labels or documentation in Bulgarian language so as to comply with the regulations of the European Union.

National Assembly debated at first reading a ratification bill on amendments to the Constitution and the Convention of the International Union for Long Distance Communications. The two documents regulate the activities of the Union. The amendments introduce more precise rules for the convocation of world assemblies and conferences in the different fields of long distance communications, as well as the rules for convocation of authorized representatives’ conferences. The amendments provide for a broader representation for non- member countries in the Council and their participation in its sessions, committees and working groups.
