National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski met on July 4th 2008 the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation’s State Duma Alexander Babakov and members of the Russian Duma.

Alexander Babakov stressed the will of the Russian Duma representatives to assist in the development and finding solutions to matters of mutual interest for both countries using the parliamentary channels.

On his behalf National Assembly Chairman confirmed the will of the Bulgarian parliament to interact with its Russian partners in the fields of social protection, health care, education, commerce, transport and other fields of mutual interest.

Alexander Babakov and the members of the State Duma met with the Chairman of the parliamentary friendship group Bulgaria – Russia Petur Kunev. The Burgas – Alexandroupolis oil pipeline construction was discussed during the meeting, as well as the launching of direct flights between the cities of Sofia and Ekaterininburg and a ferry line connecting the port of Varna and of Caucasus.
