In its Declaration, dated 10 July 2008, the 40th National Assembly proclaims its will to create a legal basis for overcoming illiteracy, for the provision of quality education, good health care, access to information and respect for children. The document was drawn up by the Parliamentary consensus for the children of Bulgaria. With the document MPs state their dedication to work for more safety for children on the streets and in the household, protection against violence and exploitation, social security and better living conditions as well as freedom of expression. Parliament called upon all state and municipal institutions, civil society, media and parents to join their efforts in improving the wellbeing of Bulgarian children.
