National Assembly Amends on First Reading the Social Insurance Code

On its sitting dated 24 July 2008, NA approved on first reading amendments to the Social Insurance Code. They foresee an update for pensions granted until 31 December 2007 using another formula for calculating the individual pension based on the average income in the country for 2007, namely 398, 17 leva.
MPs ratified the agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and Greece for the crossing border control between the two countries.
They discussed also the ratification bill to the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Government of the Russian Federation for cooperation in the construction of a transit natural gas pipeline through the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, signed on 18 January 2008 and discussed on second reading amendments to the Underground Natural Riches Act.
The National Assembly scheduled an extraordinary sitting on 29 July 2008, Tuesday at 9.00 am, in order to debate the opposition’s non confidence motion against the government.
