Prof. Georgi Markov’s Book "Bulgaria's Independence during the 1908-1909 Balkan Crisis” Premiered at the National Assembly

On September 17, 2008 NA held the presentation of prof. Georgi Markov’s book "Bulgaria's Independence during the 1908-1909 Balkan Crisis”.
Georgi Pirinski stressed that with the premiere of the book the National Assembly joins the list of events organized on a national scale to celebrate and contemplate the historic meaning of the proclamation of the Independence of Bulgaria 100 years ago, as well as its importance to the present. He said that the book was representing a valuable study and everyone at the NA agreed that it had to be published with the help of parliament.
Historian and parliamentary member, prof. Andrey Pantev praised the book as an attempt to show the achievement of independence as a long process involving the Bulgarian people and skillful politicians of the time.”Bulgaria finally took down more the spiritual than the political and the financial fez with the proclamation of the independence”, Prof. Andrei Pantev said.
The merits of prof. Markov’s research were also outlined by MPs Vesselin Metodiev and Georgi Bliznashki. The event was attended by deputies, scholars, public figures and media representatives.
The book "Bulgaria's Independence during the 1908-1909 Balkan Crisis”. is published by the National Assembly on the occasion of the 100 anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Bulgaria.
