Amendments to the Road Traffic Act Envisage Half of the Imposed Penalties for Traffic Violations to be Spend on the Installation of Monitoring Systems on the Roads

The National Assembly adopted amendments to the Road Traffic act. The changes stipulate that 50 per cent of the revenues from fines imposed on drivers could be used by the Ministry of Interior for the installation of systems for control and monitoring of roads. In the future, drivers who have lost or damaged their car registration documents or the same have been stolen will be able to report it via electronic means, by using electronic signature.

The lawmakers started the deliberations on the draft for a new Family Code. The essential amendments in the new Code will aim at regulating the putative marriage between man and woman and the introduction of the nuptial agreement in Bulgarian law. MPs also discussed, at first reading, bills on the Pension Reserve Fund.

NA passed the ratification on the Agreement on the Privileges and Immunities of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

MPs discussed the amendments to the Maritime Space, Inland Waterways and Ports Act of the Republic of Bulgaria and passed a resolution to transform the Assembly’s sanatorium and recreational facility in Velingrad into a second line spending unit of the NA budget funds.

The Police Cooperation Convention for South – East Europe was ratified.
