DECLARATION OF THE 40TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

With regard to: condemnation of the violence committed against a political party activist, at the local elections on October 11, 2008 in Petrich

Pursuant to art. 86, para 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria and art. 75, para 1 of the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the National Assembly,

We, the members of the 40th National Assembly:

Being aware that aggressive language and behavior, sale of political parties’ lists of voters and vote buying, inevitably lead to another more brutal criminal acts,

Expressing our extreme concern about such acts of physical abuse against political opponents, represented in parliament,

Warning against the danger connected to the resort to violence in political life,

WE HEREBY

Condemn the violence committed against Ognyan Tetimov,

We call upon the Ministry of Interior and the Judiciary to take immediate steps to uncover and punish the perpetrators.
