The National Assembly Adopted Friday a
National Health Strategy for 2008-2013 and an action plan for the strategy.
Improvement of the access, quality and efficiency of the emergency and outpatient medical care, optimizing and efficient management of the hospital care are among the strategy's top
priorities. Provision of financial stability of the health care system and the implementation of the "health in all policies" approach are also among the main goals of the document.
The result should be a restructured, reformed, financially stable and efficient health system, which provides quality health care regarding promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
Based on the main priorities, nine strategic objectives have been developed covering the prevention of deceases, provision of drugs and medicinal products satisfying the demand and the
economic opportunities of the population.
The proposed action plan is based on these objectives. Under the strategy, the Health Minister should coordinate the analysis, the monitoring and the assessment of the National Health Strategy implementation and report to the Council of
Ministers every year.
The gradual solution of the issue of insufficient funds for medical activities and of the issue of non regulated payments and corruption is also included in the strategy.The expected results from the strategy implementation include limited influence of risk factors related to environment and behavior of population, establishment of healthy models of nutrition and prevention of possible risks for the health of the nation.
