The chair of Bulgarian parliament, Georgi Pirinski received, on his initiative, today representatives of NGO’s active in the field of women's reproductive health, namely “Conception”, “I want a baby”, and the Bulgarian Association of Sterility and Reproductive Health.

In his statement for media representatives after the meeting, he noted that he will do whatever would be necessary to start the discussions in the parliamentary committees on health and social policy over a new bill aiming at the creation of a special “Fund on assisted reproduction”, immediately after the winter recess. In his words, such a debate will sift out the pros and cons for such a fund. We will do whatever is necessary as to make so that the money allocated for 2009 goes where it is most needed and used in the most beneficial and transparent way, he added.

He also reassured the NGO’s representatives that the BGN 10 M, allocated within the National Budget for 2009 won’t be lost.

The NGO’s representatives thanked the speaker of the National Assembly for his will to meet and listen to their stands and opinions, in favor of creating a national Fund on assisted reproduction and for the understanding shown and his personal commitment to initiate, in January next year, the discussions on its establishment.
