In conformity with art. 78, para 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria the Chairman of the National Assembly is to convene an extraordinary sitting of the NA on January 12, 2009 with the only item on the agenda being: Report of the Council of Ministers on the measures undertaken to minimize the consequences of the natural gas supply suspension.

The chairman of the National Assembly has agreed with the chairpersons of the parliamentary committees on Energy, European affairs and Foreign policy to hold a joint meeting on January 9, 2009, Friday at 2 pm at the premises of the NA. They also agreed to summon for a hearing the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivailo Kalfin and the Minister of the Economy and Energy, Petar Dimitrov.
