Amended Law for Privatization and Post-Privatization Control Allows Agency for Post - Privatization Control to Reschedule Debts

Amendments in the above law were discussed in the National Assembly on 12 February, 2009 at first reading. The changes give the Agency the right to reschedule payment plans of buyers of privatized enterprises. The first step requires the buyer to submit an application for debt deferment with a proper collateral. The new law gives the Agency the right to abate the whole or part of the debts or interest incurred in a privatization deal. The period of debt rescheduling can not be extended above a ten years term. The debt rescheduling agreement goes together with an installment plan. Non payment of three installments will make the debt recoverable.

At the same sitting, MPs debated also amendments to the Credit Institutions and Electronic Media Acts.

An important bill, ratifying the agreement among fourteen states for the setting up of an integrated university education system in Central Europe was passed. The multilateral agreement provides the introduction of a European system for transfer of credits among the higher educational institutions of the countries, parties to the agreement.
