Luxury Publication titled “Tarnovo Constitution of 1879” Presented at the National Assembly

The 130th Anniversary of the Constituent Assembly and the adoption of the first Bulgarian constitution were marked at the National Assembly with the presentation of an exquisite luxury edition titled “Tarnovo Constitution of 1879” on April 15, 2009.
At the book’s premier, the chairman of the National Assembly Georgi Pirinski noticed that the edition was worth of the great anniversary to which it is dedicated. He explained that the book combines in a unique way the facsimile of the Tarnovo Constitution together with the studies on it of prominent historians and views on its contemporary relevance.
Georgi Stefanov, member of the Book Friends' Club “Bukinist” noted that the Constitution of Tarnovo represented one of the relics of Bulgaria and a triumph of the Bulgarian spirituality.
The introduction of the book, dedicated to the importance of the Constitution was coauthored by the National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski and Georgi Bliznashki, MP and Constitutional Law professor. The edition shows copies of the original protocols of the Constituent Assembly handwritten by Boyan Balamezov, Marin Drinov, Simeon Radev and others. The concluding notes of the edition, written by prof. Doyno Doynov are entitled “Before and afterward , today and tomorrow”.
