Deputy National Assembly Chairman Luben Kornezov meets with Russia’s Chief of Federal Statistics Service Vladimir Sokolin

Deputy National Assembly Chairman prof. L. Kornezov met on April 28, 2009 the Chief of Russia's Statistics Office Vladimir Sokolin.
During the talks prof. Kornezov noted that relations between the two countries were intensifying proven by the current visit of the Bulgarian PM Stanishev in Moscow. In his view the prospects for the future economic ties between the two countries were good.
Mr. Kornezov informed the guest about the recent 130th anniversary celebration at the National Assembly of the Constituent Assembly of Tarnovo and the first Bulgarian Constitution then adopted and emphasized the assistance of the Russian lawyers in the process of its elaboration.
He noted that Bulgaria has a special law, regulating Statistics and that the NA is about to adopt a bill regarding a population and housing census to be held in 2011.
The head of the Russian “Rosstat”, Vladimir Sokolin expressed his high satisfaction with his visit to Bulgaria and noted that Statistics Services in the two countries had broad opportunities for cooperation with foreign trade statistical data being such example.
Mr. Sokolin is visiting Bulgaria on the invitation of the National Statistical Institute’s President, Mariana Kotseva. The two parties are willing to establish cooperation on the subject of the unified European standards.
