Lawyer Tsetska Tsacheva elected Speaker of the 41st National Assembly

The 41st National Assembly has elected the lawyer Tsetska Tsacheva as its chairperson. Her nomination was put forward by GERB parliamentary group and met the support of all other groups – 227 members voted “for”, none against and 3 abstained.
Mrs.Tsetska Tsacheva is the first woman to preside over Bulgaria’s parliament.
Mrs.Tsetska Tsacheva Dangovska was born on 24 May 1958 in the village of Dragana, Lovech District. She graduated with golden medal from the town of Pleven’s Second High School Mathematics Class in 1976. She had studied and received a Law degree from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Law School. After graduation she underwent a year as judge trainee in the town of Pleven’s District Court. She started her carrier as Legal Counsel to the Municipality of Pleven Administration, where she became Head Legal Counsel in 1988. In 1992 she became and remains member of the town of Pleven’s Bar Association.
She is among the founders and member of the Administrative Council of the association “Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria”, registered later as political party “GERB”. She further became municipal leader of the political party and was nominated for the mayor’s position in Pleven at the local elections in 2007. She was elected as member of Pleven’s City Council on the ticket of GERB. She was on the head of the party’s list and GERB’s majority candidate in the 15th electoral district – Pleven, at the recent elections for 41st National Assembly.

Mts. Tsacheva is married with one son.
