National Assembly is organising "Open Doors Day" on November 1, 2009, Sunday from 10.00 to 16.00 h.

The National Assembly is going to open its headquarters, located at 2 Narodno Sabranie Square in Sofia, for citizens willing to acquaint themselves with the premises and learn more about the history of the parliament. The event is to be held on November 1, 2009, Sunday, beginning at 10.00 am to 16.00 pm. Visitors will be able to take a look at the two exhibitions, now on view in the parliament - "The Old Masters Collection" (presents pictures from the golden fund of the Municipal Gallery - Kardjali) and a second one titled “Kin, Family, Fatherland " belonging to the Regional History Museum - Plovdiv.

The initiative – is part of this year events, marking the 130th anniversary of the Constituent Assembly and the adoption of the Tarnovo Constitution, and is also dedicated to the Day of the National Enlighteners, celebrated on November 1st.

The first guest will be greeted at 10.00 o’clock on the main entrance of the parliament by the President of the National Assembly Ms Tsetska Tsacheva.

At 10.30 hours an open discussion on the topic: "The founders of modern Bulgaria. The Pioneers and the National Assembly” will take place in the assembly’s Plenary Hall. Special guests at the event will be teachers and students of the National School for Ancient Languages and Cultures "St.Constantine Cyril- the Philosopher". Participants will be welcomed by the President Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva. MP Prof. Veselin Metodiev is to be lecturer and moderator of the discussion.

Visitors will have the opportunity to look at the plenary chamber, and the East and West halls, in which parliamentary committees meet and conduct public events related to the activities of the National Assembly. The youngest guests will receive a copy of the informative and educational brochure "The first Parliament of Bulgaria".

An audio-visual presentation regarding the history and activities of the National Assembly will take place every 30 minutes in the plenary hall.

The Open Doors Day is part of the policy of the National Assembly for educational communication and dialogue with civil society.
