The National Assembly passed, November 27, 2009 the amendments to the Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act. They envisage a fine at the amount of BGN 15 000 to 50 000 for dealers of tobacco products, not registered under the VAT Act and not licensed to trade in tobacco products. It also provides the imposition of penalties between BGN 50 000 and 100 000.
The chair of the parliamentary Budget Committee, Mandy Stoyanova, stressed that those penalties will be imposed to merchants not conforming with the law. Stoyanova noted the same fines were laid in the Act on Tobacco and Tobacco Products.
