The sittings of parliament to be broadcasted live through the web site of the National Assembly

The online real-time broadcasting of the National Assembly’s plenary sittings started on January 20, 2010. Viewers may access it through the parliament’s website. The project was launched with the assistance of the Bulgarian National Television.
At the beginning of the plenary sitting the Chair of the Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva said that it is a long term project, which is to be enlarged and improved. “With this initiative we enter a new stage of development of the democratic parliamentary publicity and greater transparency in the legislative process”, she added.
The decision to begin the online broadcasting of the plenary sittings through the parliament’s website was taken when the 41st National Assembly was adopting its Rules for Organization and Procedures. The aim is to introduce a new level of transparency in the legislative process and to give the Bulgarian citizens, in and out of the country, the opportunity for direct observation of the work of Republic of Bulgaria’s legislature.
There is a plan to create as well an audiovisual archive at the website of the National Assembly, which is to allow systematic monitoring of the legislative process in its full scope and sequence.
National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva and Uliana Pramova, the Director General of Bulgarian National Television signed , January 20, 2010 an agreement on long-term cooperation. The aim is to ensure with the help of modern audiovisual equipment greater openness and transparency of the legislative process.
