At his meeting with Dr. Kamal Kharazi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, National Assembly President Prof. Ognian Gerdjikov pointed out that he is hopeful on the development of the project for construction of a gas pipeline from Iran to Europe via Turkey and Bulgaria. The negotiations already are at the level of experts and this gives hope that the project will be put into effect in the near future, he said. National Assembly President said he regretted about the drop in the commodity exchange between Bulgaria and Iran. Prof. Gerdjikov mentioned culture as a very important area in the bilateral relations.

According to Mr. Kharazi, there are solid prerequisites to develop the relations between the two countries in the field of economy, transport, energy and culture. The Iranian side attaches great importance on the development of the relations between the two parliaments as well, he added.
