In a statement for media representatives, made on March 6, 2010, the Speaker of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva has informed that she had sent a letter to President Georgi Parvanov asking his institution to submit in the parliament an officially certified copy of the transcript of the talk he and his team had Friday, March 5, with Finance Minister Simeon Djankov, as well as an audio recording of the conversation.

In the statement, she notes that the request, forwarded to the President of the Republic, comes after the publication of the transcript on the official presidential web site and after she was approached by members of parliament asking her to comment on its implications. “As I share the principle of separation of powers and the understanding that the President by Constitution embodies the unity of the nation and is entitled with balancing the political processes and with a view of the established practice of dialogue between state institutions, I addressed a letter to the president”, said Tsetska Tsacheva.

The Chair of the National Assembly asked the Head of State also to inform her on whether he had obtained, prior to their meeting, the consent of Minister Diankov to disseminate the contents of the conversation between the two. “The National Assembly of Bulgaria deems important to clarify these circumstances in compliance with the obligation of all state institutions to strictly abide by the Constitution and the laws”, noted Tsetska Tsacheva. As President of the National Assembly I adhere to the cause that the powers of the state should be exercised in the ways laid dawn in the Constitution, which determines the rights and obligations of each state body and authority”, she added
