The 26-year old Milen Valtchev was the first visitor to the National Assembly's Open Doors Day held on April 17, 2010. More than 6500, mostly young people, strolled through the parliament building and the two exibitions shown at the premises: the first titled "Colours of the valley " of pictures belonging to the Art Gallery of Kazanlak and the second “Relics of the Bulgarian state”. The initiative was held on the occasion of the Constitution Day - April 16th.
Exactly at 10.00 am the President of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva, welcomed the first guest Milen Valtchev, who said he was entering the National Assembly for the first time motivated to feel the ambiance inside. He mentioned that he had read the Constitution and the first place he wanted to visit was the plenary hall. He recommended more frequent such open days for citizens to visit to be held in all state institutions, so that Bulgarian citizens could be able to see them from within and feel part to their activities.
While showing the plenary hall, the president of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva emphasized that there should be no boundaries between institutions and civil society, as the latter serves to correct their work. She added that the National Assembly seeks to promote its activities through the Internet and through books written at a language accessible to the youngest citizens of the country. The youngest visitors were presented with an educational booklet about Bulgaria’s Parliament.
