Participants and organizers of the International Competition dedicated to the Law of the European Union have visited on 3 May 2010 the National Assembly. The prestigious event took place in Sofia through May 1-2, 2010 under the honorary patronage of the President of the National Assembly TsetskaTsacheva.

In this year’s edition of the competition some 16 teams of young people from 19 different countries took part. Malta became the country winner. At the competition Bulgaria was represented by two teams - from Sofia University and the University of National and World Economy.

The National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva welcomed the guests in the plenary hall. She praised them for having decided to run in this competition covering the complex issues of the European Union Law. She noted that Bulgaria’s state institutions and the parliament as a legislative body provide constant support to young Bulgarians interested in European Law.

Tsetska Tsacheva congratulated the team of Malta, this year's winner, and wished to all the participants to some day become members of their countries’ parliaments, emphasizing the importance of accumulating knowledge through consistent efforts and employing new technologies and non traditional approaches in their thinking.

National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva awarded Mr William Cornish, a longtime professor of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Cambridge, with an honorary plaque dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Bulgaria’s Constituent Assembly.

Organizers of the European Union Law Competition, which dates back to 1995, were the British Law Center at the University of Cambridge and the European Law Department of Warsaw University. The yearly contest is run under the auspices of the European Court of Justice.
