The National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva attended June 26, 2010 the celebration of the 20th year since the restoration of the Bulgarian Union of Disabled Veterans and War Victims. The commemoration began with a prayer for peace and health.

In her adress towards the guests at the Central Military Club, the speaker of the parliament emphasized that providing decent life for war invalids and victims is a cause shared by all parliamentary members. She said this cause requires the every day efforts and response on the part of the state institutions as well as the commitment of the whole civil society.

She emphasized that with the recent amendments to the Defense and Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria Act, adopted on 26 February 2010, the legislature has expanded the social benefits for disabled veterans and victims of wars. She called the members of the organization to meet with young people and to communicate the message that wars should never be allowed any more. Tsetska Tsacheva assured the members of the Union that the dialogue between their organization and the Bulgarian Parliament would continue in the search for best solutions to improve the handicaped veterans’ life.
