National Assembly President Gerdjikov met with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Vladimir Spidla

The Czech side is interested in investments in various areas in Bulgaria as modernization of nuclear power plants, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Vladimir Spidla said at his meeting with National Assembly President Prof. Ognian Gerdjikov. He voiced satisfaction with the frequent contacts between the parliaments of the two countries.

Prof. Gerdjikov said that the trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic are very good. The two voiced common opinion that tourism in Bulgaria is the area with a potential to be developed and to attract more Czech investments.

The both sides shared the concern over the situation of instability on the Western Balkans, particularly in Kosovo and Macedonia. Prof. Gerdjikov stressed that Bulgaria is a factor of stability and makes maximum effort in finding peaceful resolutions of the conflicts in the region.

Prof. Ognian Gerdjikov acquainted his guest with the adopted by Parliament amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria related to the judiciary reform. These amendments will be followed by more reforms of the judiciary and in the next few months the Judiciary Act will be amended as well, he added.
