National Assembly decides to increase funding for hospital care by BGN 178 M

The increase by 178 million leva for hospital care was introduced by amendments to the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) for 2010 Act, passed by the National Assembly at the sitting on July 28, 2010.
The revenue part of the NHIF budget was increased by 53 million leva. 40 million leva were planned to come from health insurance contributions and 13 million leva from the Ministry of Health (state budget) transfers.
The expenditures part of the NHIF budget was raised by 220 million leva. BGN 27 million were allocated to cover health insurance compensations, the cost of drugs for home treatment, for medical devices and foods; to cover hospital treatment expenditures were allocated additional BGN 178 million, and to cover the difference in the user fee for pensioners - 13 million leva. It was decided to allocate an additional 2 million leva for the NHIF reserves.
