Member of Parliament Genoveva Alexieva tendered her resignation as Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committees on Helthcare and on Labor & Social Policy

According to the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the National Assembly the pre-term release of standing committees’ deputy chairpersons upon their request is not to be put to vote by the parliament. Instead it has to be only announced in plenary. The procedure is scheduled for the first day of the new parliamentary sessions, the 1st of September.
Genoveva Alexieva declared no confluct of interest in her participation as an expert in the Expert Council of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology. She went on to explain that prior to the contest she had forwarded an inquiry to the Presidium of the Supreme Attestation Commission and the answer received read that her presence at the sitting of the Expert Council was not in contradiction with the Academic Degrees and Academic Rancs Act. “Ethics is in the law. Pursuant to the law I had to take part in the contest. Ethics is not separate from the law”, said Ass. Prof. Genoveva Alexieva. She explained her resignation with the understanding that the personal attacks on her should not be used against GERB, the political party on the whose ticket she was elected an M.P.
