The National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva and the Director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet Theater Plamen Kartalov announced in Pleven the program for the celebrations dedicated to the 120 years of Opera Art in Bulgaria. The Speaker of Parliament is an honorary patron of the celebrations.
The celebrations will be launched in Pleven – the world opera diva Gena Dimitrova’s native town. Tsetska Tsacheva and Prof. Kartalov delivered to the Historical Museum in the town a valuable object - the costume, worn by the renowned singer Gena Dimitrova in the opera “Gioconda " by composer Ponkieli, staged at the Sofia Opera Theater. The costume, a gift from the Sofia Opera and Ballet Theater, is to become now part of the permanent exhibition of the Historical Museum in Pleven dedicated to the singer, born in the nearby village of Beglege
Tsetska Tsacheva laid flowers at the мemorial plaque of the opera singer in Pleven. She noted that she had accepted with a great pride and pleasure the invitation to become patron of the celebrations dedicated to the 120 years of the establishment of the Bulgarian Opera. She added: “If it is indeed possible to briefly but accurately determine the meaning of the Sofia Opera and Ballet Theater for Bulgarian culture, the words would have been: European and Worldwide fame”.
