“The Bulgarian opera singers and brilliant opera performances are among our most valuable contributions to the European and World musical culture”, said National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva on October 1, 2010. Together with Prof. Plamen Kartalov, Director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet House and opera prima Raina Kabaivanska they opened the celebrations dedicated to the 120 years of Bulgarian Opera staging.

Tsetska Tsacheva, who is honorary patron of the anniversary, said people associate the brightest names of Bulgarian opera with the greatest triumphs on the famous stages of the world. She said further that the briefest way to describe the importance of the Sofia Opera for Bulgarian culture was: European and World fame. She added the words sound even more convincing in the presence of Raina Kabaivanska - the legend of Bulgarian opera.

Tsetska Tsacheva wished the audience to have during the new season memorable aesthetic feelings.

The anniversary season was launched with the performance of ”Kosara”, the opera written by Maestro Georgi Atanasov. The latter was first staged 80 years ago. Veteran opera singers and artists were guests at the opening.
