National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva attended on November 18, 2010 the solemn celebration of the 130th anniversary of the establishment of the Supreme Court of Cassation in Bulgaria. The official ceremony took place during a plenary sitting of the Court at the Palace of Justice in Sofia.


“Established shortly after the liberation, the highest court of Bulgaria became one of the greatest achievements in the building up and the consolidation of the Bulgarian state”, said the chair of parliament in her opening speech. Tsetska Tsacheva stressed that the anniversary of the Supreme Court of Cassation provides a reason for pride. “The anniversary is an occasion also to clearly and categorically state the need for the Court, together with all other Bulgarian institutions, to work without hesitation, every day, in defense of the democratic and lawful state values and the supremacy of the law”, added further the chair of the National Assembly. In her words, the work of the Court serves as the best safeguard and protection of the citizen’s rights and interests in European Bulgaria.
